In the Germany, hardly any other actress switches so effortlessly between serious and comedic roles, between theatre and cinema as well as between being in front of and behind the camera as Theresa Sophie Albert. No fixed roles - a trademark of the Palatinate-born actress.
Growing up surrounded by artists in her father's studio, Theresa Sophie Albert came into contact with a wide variety of art forms at an early age. While her peers spent their time on the fairground bumper cars, she went to the theatre. Between 2004 and 2008, she studied acting at the MUK (Music and Arts University) in Vienna with Roland Koch, Dorothee Hartinger and Peter Hofer, among others. She got to know Dany Levi, Friedemann Fromm, Frauke Thielecke and Wolfgang Eißler while working on scenes.
Theresa Sophie Albert made her theatre debut in "Lieblingsmenschen" (2009), directed by Margit Mezgolich at the "Theater in der Drachengasse" in Vienna. It was the start of a varied career in theatre, cabaret, film and television.
One of the biggest successes in 2017 was certainly the short film ‘BERGEN’ directed by Agnes Regan. Theresa Sophie Albert plays the role of Luise. The production was honoured with numerous international awards, including the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award Berlin’ from the Flash Film Festival (Germany), a nomination in the ‘Official Selection Toronto Shorts International Film Festival’ (Australia) and the ‘Outstanding Award L'Age D'Or International Arthouse Film Festival’ (India).
Theresa Sophie Albert had previously appeared in front of the camera in numerous short and graduation films, including her own directorial debut WHO I AM (2011/short film). This was followed by BILD VON IHR (2014/cinema feature film, directed by Florian Anders, VENARI (2021/graduation film, directed by Christian Hoffmann) and JEDERZEIT (2016/short film, nominated for the 99-Fire Festival, directed by Theresa Sophie Albert & Johannes Sauerbruch).
In the years that followed, she was increasingly involved in international productions, including the Amazon Studios series HANNA alongside Mireille Enos, directed by Jon Jones, and the film LOST IN MY HEART by Thierry Pradervand, in which she plays a lost loner who tries with all her might to be a spiritual support for her grieving childhood friend. The film is currently being evaluated at international festivals and has already been named Best International Short Film at the Swedish International Film Festival.
Albert can also be seen regularly on German television. She was part of the ensemble of the ZDF doctor series DOKTOR BALLOUZ for four seasons, played in LETZTE SPUR BERLIN, WAPO BODENSEE, SIBEL UND MAX, SOKO WISMAR, EIN FALL FÜR ZWEI and most recently in SOKO POTSDAM. She also became known for her role in the Emmy-nominated hit series CHARITÉ (season 4) directed by Esther Bialas. She plays farmer Evelyn Baldwin, who causes a health disaster for one of her two spouses by illegally harvesting algae. The fourth season is set in the future.
In 2025, she was back in front of the camera in England for the production VOX POPULI, directed by Sam Esmail. The film is produced by Warner Brothers.
Theresa Sophie Albert lives in Berlin and is a member of the BFFS.
