Janina Stopper appeared in front of the camera for the first time at the age of five in Yasemin Samdereli's LIEBER GOTT. The following year, she made her cinema debut in Rainer Kaufmann's DIE APOTHEKERIN. Since then, Janina Stopper has appeared regularly in film and television productions.
She appeared in Egon Günther's literary adaptation ELSE, in Christoph Stark's family drama VERLASSEN and in Doris Dörrie's miniseries KLIMAWECHSEL. At the same time, she played leading roles in several episodes of TATORT, as well as in POLIZEIRUF 110 and numerous other crime series. She played a leading role alongside Götz George in Vivian Naefe's tragicomedy PAPA ALLEIN ZU HAUS and appeared alongside Senta Berger and Peter Sattmann in the two-part TV series EMILIA. In 2009, she also played alongside Monica Bleibtreu and Julia Jentsch in the main cast of the bestseller adaptation TANNÖD.
Janina Stopper has already received several awards for her acting performances. In 2007, she received the “Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award” for her role in the psychological drama BLOCH: DIE WUT. The following year, she received the “New Faces Award” and the “Bavarian Television Award for Young Talent” for her leading role as an overwhelmed teenage mother in TATORT: KLEINE HERZEN.
Janina Stopper completed her acting training at the former ‘Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen – Konrad Wolf’ (Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television), now the ‘Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf’ (Konrad Wolf Film University) in Potsdam, and appeared in various plays during her studies. Among other things, she performed at the Hans Otto Theater in Wolfgang Borchert's DRAUSSEN VOR DER TÜR and in RICHTFEST by Lutz Hübner. Other theatre engagements included the Renaissance Theater Berlin, TDJ Vienna, St. Pauli Theater Hamburg, Bad Hersfeld Festival and the Garmisch Cultural Summer.
In 2022, Janina took on the role of Ann-Grethe in the ARD film adaptation HAUKE HAIENS TOD (AT), based on the novel of the same name by Andrea Paluch and Robert Habeck, directed by Austrian Andreas Prochaska (DAS FINSTERE TAL). She shot the feature film ABENDLAND with video artist Omer Fast.
In 2023, Janina Stopper appeared in the successful ZDF series DER STAATSANWALT in the episode UNTER DRUCK as legal trainee Dr. Teresa Anger. This was followed by guest roles in the ARD television series MORDEN IM NORDEN – Alles Gute, directed by Christoph Eichhorn, and for ZDF in DER THÜRINGEN KRIMI – Gerechtigkeit, directed by Judith Kennel.
The film WELCOME HOME BABY, which she shot in 2024 under the direction of Andreas Prochaska, was successfully released in cinemas in November 2025.
In addition to her work as an actress, Janina Stopper also regularly works as a voice actress in dubbing and narrates radio plays.
